Beyonce's Cowboy Carter is Album of the Year/Grammy Awards 2025

It's safe to say that after a 30-plus year career and 30 plus Grammy Awards all led up to the night of the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for the multifaceted Beyonce, as she won the coveted Album of The Year for Cowboy Carter.

Also, having won for Best Country Duo/Group performance for "II Most Wanted" with Miley Cyrus and Best Country Album, this comes on the heels of being completely shut out at the previous Country Music Awards in 2024 with no nominations at all.

Already crowned the most decorated and nominated artist in Grammy's history, these particular wins mark the first time a black woman has won in the country music category since The Pointer Sisters' 1975 song "Fairytale".

In her Album of The Year acceptance speech, Beyoncé noted one important figure in tribute. Linda Martell, a country singer, who in 1969 became the first black woman to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

Other notable wins were Doechii for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, having only been the third woman to ever win the category since it's 1989 introduction, behind Lauryn Hill and Cardi B.

Kendrick Lamar also won big for Song and Record of the Year for his Drake diss track "Not Like Us". In addition, Avery*Sunshine and group NxWorries (which includes Anderson .Paak) tied for their win in the Best Progressive R&B category.

Controversial singer Chris Brown also was awarded with Best R&B Album for his album 11:11. This after years of backlash for abuse allegations most notably including then relationships with singer Rihanna and actress Karruechi Tran.

Outside the notable wins were also moments of confusion as Kanye West, who was nominated in two categories, arrived with his now wife, Bianca Censori, as she bore a revealing sheer look that rendered her practically naked on the red carpet. Stunt Queen.

Another unfortunate red carpet occurrence took place as two Associated Press reporters ditched legendary producer, songwriter, and artist Babyface for rising star Chappel Roan mid-interview. Rude.
